NYC Area Manager, Bronx and TriAchilles

Description:

The NYC Area Manager, Bronx and TriAchilles will join a group of like-minded peers in providing accessible workouts and an inclusive community for athletes with disabilities. This manager will lead local weekly workouts in the Bronx and TriAchilles portfolios with the support of the NYC Area staff. The core of the Achilles chapter is regular sessions where athletes with disabilities and guides meet and train together consistently with monthly events augmenting the experience with the inclusion of social gatherings and races. The manager will also forge and strengthen relationships with partner organizations to enhance athlete and volunteer recruitment. This manager will also oversee weekly bike and swimming workouts to round out the TriAchilles experience for these athletes. There are about 6 race weekends for multi-sport competition which require additional event planning and management.

Major Tasks and Responsibilities of Position:

  • Oversee all operations within the assigned boroughs and TriAchilles.

  • Implement weekly borough workouts across all modes of participation and programs, including both ambulatory and wheelchair kids and adults.

  • Organize and lead six TriAchilles race/event weekends across the seasons.

  • Secure weekly swim opportunities for athletes.

  • Manage Saturday Central Park tandem rides including training new tandem pilots.

  • Assist with regional communications, member onboarding, and ongoing athlete support.

  • Assist with regional expense filings and database management.

  • Assist in larger Achilles International events, including NYC Marathon and Achilles Hope and Possibility® 4M Presented by TD Bank.

  • Ensure all volunteers are properly trained to guide both children and adults of all disabilities.

  • Support all members in registering for workouts and races, checking into workouts, sending timely communications with the community, and ensuring relevant liabilities are managed.

  • Strong leadership skills and decisiveness when faced with nuanced choices.

  • Public speaking, capable of presenting to full membership multiple times per week.

  • Consistently organized and capable of collaborating with multiple teams with various priorities.

  • Capable of preparing and managing a budget.

  • Strong people skills, able to build steady relationships with athletes and volunteers to develop a strong sense of community.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for working with individuals with disabilities, particularly in your local community.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent plus 4+ years of experience in managerial role.

  • Strong project management skills and experience.

  • This position entails a 40 hour workweek with a flexible schedule, including one weekend morning and one evening per week, with additional race events throughout the year.

  • Administrative tasks are done in a hybrid setting between work in office and from home.

Base Salary:

  • $70,000
